PETALING JAYA: Upko president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau has invited lawmakers who recently abandoned the Perikatan Nasional government to join Pakatan Plus.
Pakatan Plus is the moniker for a loose coalition that includes Pakatan Harapan and the yet-to-be-registered Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
In a statement on Wednesday (Jan 13), the Tuaran MP appealed to his fellow parliamentary colleagues who do not have any ongoing court cases to join Pakatan Plus in order to discuss alternative policies for the post-Perikatan government. Whether we would sit next to each other in the future as parliamentarians, we have a duty to offer workable and broad-based policies for millions of suffering Malaysians when the PM damages their livelihoods just to save his job, he said.

Sin Chew Daily, in quoting sources, reported that the move by Muhyiddin was aimed at cooling down the ongoing rift between Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and Umno.
Sin Chew also reported that Muhyiddin has allowed Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob - who is also a supposed candidate for the post - and Hishammuddin to speak privately to each other to decide among themselves who would take on the deputy prime minister post.
Muhyiddin is also reportedly leaning more toward Hishammuddin for the post between the two.
Sin Chew also reported that Muhyiddin has always reserved the deputy prime minister post for Umno, but the prime minister is “stuck” because the current Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi allegedly wants the post for himself.
The government has neither been able to effectively handle the Covid-19 pandemic nor the economy. Investors are also not coming in and this has led to many problems, the PKR president told reporters after handing over face masks to policemen at the district police station here Monday (Jan 11).
Anwar said tactics to buy over politicians by offering them positions should also stop. We need to have the political will to save the country and not the positions of one or two people. We need to plan the direction the country needs to take, he said.
On Saturday (Jan 9), Ahmad Jazlan said he no longer supported Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin s leadership.
