The Golden Voice, a 200-page graphic novel describing the life and career of Ros Serey Sothea, one of the most famous female singer of Cambodia’s “Golden Age” of the 1960s, is to be published in Khmer in December.
When Los Angeles film producer Greg Cahill embarked on a graphic novel project to document the life of legendary Cambodian singer Ros Serey Sothea, he struggled for months to find an illustrator who could bring his vision to life.
Recently, Ros Saboeun – sister to Cambodian singer Ros Serey Sothea, dubbed “The Golden Voice” back in the 1960’s – celebrated what would have been the singer’s 74th birthday at the stupa dedicated to her and other victims of the Khmer Rouge located in Phnom Srouch district of Kampong Speu province.
