The 30-share BSE Sensex slumped 707 points or 1.10 per cent to trade at 63,342, while the NSE Nifty was down 224 points or 1.17 per cent to trade at 18,898. Broader markets (mid- and small-cap shares) were also weak as Nifty Midcap 100 was down 1.88 per cent and small-cap shed 2.57 per cent.
The 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 471 points or 0.71 per cent to trade at 65,406, while the NSE Nifty was down 124 points or 0.63 per cent to trade at 19,547. Broader markets (mid- and small-cap shares) were also weak as Nifty Midcap 100 was down 0.56 per cent and small-cap slipped 0.48 per cent.
The domestic indices were dragged by banks and financials. The 30-share BSE Sensex slipped 152 points or 0.23 per cent to trade at 66,276, while the NSE Nifty was down 29 points or 0.15 per cent to trade at 19,782.
Mumbai, Oct 11 (PTI) Continuing with the positive momentum, Sensex and Nifty surged in early trade on Wednesday as encouraging trends in the global market boosted investor sentiments.
The 30-share BSE Sensex pack surged 256 points or 0.35 per cent to hit an all-time high of 67,774, while the NSE Nifty moved 70 points or 0.34 per cent up to scale a fresh peak of 20,173. Broader market (mid- and small-cap) shares were positive as Nifty Midcap 100 climbed 0.36 per cent and small-cap gained 0.58 per cent.
