This is Aljazeera America. Good morning. Live from new york city, im randall pinkston. We have new details this morning in the derailment of an amtrak train near philadelphia. Attention is focused on the speed of the trained and engineer driving it when it careened off the tracks. At least seven died. Investigators determined the train was moving too fast, almost twice the speed limit when it hid that dangerous curve. The train was traveling at approximately 106 miles per hour. Three seconds later when the data to the recorders terminated, the train speed was 102 miles per hour. Investigators still dont know why the train was going that fast. The engineer who was at the controls declined to speak to the ntsb but spoke briefly to police. He has given a blood sample and turned over his cell phone.
