if the outcome of this race, the governor s race, is a litmus test on former president s influence in perhaps other races or period come november. yes. he s weighed in on races across the nation. some candidates have been winning in the midterms. in georgia, i think the conversation really needs to be the trump factor that wasn t. and clearly, in this race, i kind of started smiling after jeff s story when he said kemp will likely win tuesday. kemp will win tuesday, and the trump factor did nothing at all for senator purdue. our reporters at wbae have been following this for several weeks, several months now. been taking the temperature checks. and david purdue s campaign began to just kind of teeter, you know, the past month or so. so trump s voice did nothing in this huge race for republicans. so lisa, you call it
when i was talking to voters into tua county, georgia, which is a deeply red republican stronghold, a few months ago in the fall. most voters i spoke to there told me that they planned to support herschel walker in the senate primary, but we re not sure about governor kemp. they were disappointed with him. they bought into some of the things they present that criticize him for, as it related to the election. when we were back there last week, more often than not, the republican primary voters i heard saying they plan to vote for herschel walker and brian kemp in the primaries. when you look at the goals, brian kemp has really pulled far ahead, far away from senator purdue. and herschel walker, in the senate republican primary, it is not even close. he is 58 close, or above his closest contender. it really is likely going to both of these candidates race to lose, if you will. barring some board some sort of a big surprise, it looks like those are going to be the republican nominees. and
that have really pulled fuller had. look at some of these poll, some of the latest numbers that we have, the gubernatorial race use look at these numbers pulled away from trump endorsed candidates, trump endorsement here appears to have not really been all that helpful elise as it relates to senator purdue. brian kemp said 60%, david perdue trailing behind at 28%, on the senate side herschel walker who s a football legend in this state, he s at 66%, his closest competitor gary black is at a percent. herschel walker has donald trump s endorsement, but really there hasn t been much of a fight their war that would kind of be the outlier that pushed him ahead. he s very well-known in the state, again a huge football legend if you grew up here you probably already knew his name. and so, that name recognition as help them a lot, you have a situation in the gubernatorial primary where donald trump was very vocally against governor brian kemp, and very active in
