The recent murders of two 15-year-old boys in Laventille were senseless and showed more must be done to protect children from being lured by gangs, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy said on Friday. This senseless killing must end. We must insist on a zero tolerance for gangs and violent culture being spread among our young and impressionable boys and girls, she said in her contribution to debate on the Anti Gang Bill 2021 in the House of Representatives. The Opposition boycotted the debate out of safety concerns as the Prime Minister has covid19.

Second murdered teen to be buried Saturday

ANTONIO FRANCOIS, one of two murdered teens who ran away from custody of the Children s Authority last month, will be buried on Saturday.
Speaking briefly with the Newsday on Thursday, Francois mother Nicole Brathwaite said her son s final rites will take place on Saturday, exactly a week after the funeral of the other murdered teen, Semion Daniel.
Brathwaite said the funeral service will take place at Guide s Funeral Chapel at St Vincent Street at 10 am.
Francois and Daniel, both 15, were shot dead on March 28. Their bodies were found on the roof of an abandoned house in Mc Shine Lands, Laventille, after neighbours reported hearing gunshots.

POLITICAL leader of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) David Abdulah said the public cannot continue to remain silent about the murder of two children who escaped a Children’s Authority safe-house last week.
He was speaking at a press conference at the party’s headquarters on Lord Street, San Fernando, on Monday.
Last week, five teenaged boys escaped from the safe-house in Valsayn, but two 15-year-olds –Antonio Francois and Semion Daniel – were gunned down in Laventille days later.
The authority’s director Nichola Harvey-Mitchell had said there was a “security lapse” at that centre.
