(Seguin) Some new data shows that the economy is picking up in the city of Seguin. City Finance Director Susan Caddell says people are spending, and the city’s sales tax revenue is way up.
“Great news on sales tax. March, we were up by 26 percnet, almost 26 and a half percent. That puts us up for the year by 6.28 percent and $942,000 is the highest that the city has seen in a monthly sales tax

(Seguin) It’s been weeks since winter storms dropped snow and ice on Texas. The unusual winter weather crippled the state’s electric grid, shutdown water supplies in many areas, and it claimed the lives of 111 Texans. It’s something that’s still likely fresh on the minds of people in Texas, and it’s one of the reasons why there’s still talk about what happened and how we will be better prepared if something like this happens again.
The Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative, or GVEC, is the latest to try to help explain what happened during that mid-February event. GVEC General Manager Darren Schauer made a presentation about what he knows during Tuesday night’s meeting of the Seguin City Council. (Seguin) If you want a COVID-19 vaccination, there’s a very good chance that you can get one today here in Seguin. Several slots are still available for today’s drive-thru vaccination clinic.
Seguin City Manager Steve Parker says they are having trouble filling up all the available slots.
“We are almost to the point where we are having trouble finding people who actively wanting a COVID vaccine. I’m not sure what that entails or why? Is it that people are scared to get the doses? Is it that people who want it have actually been able to get it somewhere else? We had a COVID vaccine clinic last week. We had 1,875 shots avialable. We gave out 1,234. We have a COVID vaccine clinic scheduled for (today). We have almost 1,500 vaccines available. We’ve had 400 people
