NOIDA: A newborn was found lying on a pavement near a drain in Sector 15A, the police said on Saturday.
The boy has been sent to the Child PGI hospital in Sector 30 for medical attention, they said.
A senior officer said a few passers-by had found the boy and called the police. Next, a team from Sector 20 police station reached the spot.
The baby was wrapped in a blanket, he said, adding that luckily the stray dogs had not attacked him.
Sector 20 SHO Rakesh Kumar Singh said at 10 am, they received a call about the incident. “Initially, the people thought that the child was dead but after some time, he started crying. Some even got milk for the baby. It looks like he is five hours old. Teams are inquiring at all hospitals of the district about deliveries that occurred in the last 24 hours to trace his parents. The child delivery has been an institutional one and hence, it will not be difficult to trace his parents,” the SHO added.
