Humble City Council approves election for May 1  Written by Beverly Horner Published: 22 February 2021 On the blistery evening of Feb. 11, the Humble City Council approved a general joint election to be held May 1 for the purpose of electing a mayor and city council member places 1 and 2. There are three contested positions, with six residents seeking the posts, two for the mayoral position and four for the council seats. The last day to file was Friday, Feb. 12. Former Council Member Norman Funderburk will face Arliss Bentley for the mayor’s job. Funderburk, who served on city council for almost seven years, resigned in mid-January shortly after current Mayor Merle Aaron announced he would retire and not seek reelection. Bentley, a retired educator, has run for office in Humble several times.

Humble City Council to take applications for Council Place 3 vacancy Written by Beverly Horner Published: 12 February 2021 On Tuesday, Feb. 9, the Humble City Council held a special meeting to determine how to handle the Council Place 3 vacancy. Former council member, Norman Funderburk, recently resigned his seat on the council and announced his mayoral candidacy. The council unanimously decided to accept applications for citizens interested in serving. The council position awardee will serve a term set to end May 2022. The council can choose to either make an appointment by majority vote or call a special election to fill the vacancy per the guidelines set forth in the City of Humble Home Rule Charter, Section 6, Vacancies on City Council.

Humble City Council meets to accept, approve runoff election results Written by Beverly Horner Published: 22 December 2020 At 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, the Humble City Council met to accept the runoff election counts as they were read according to the Dec. 12 Official Tabulation posted at www.cityofhumble.com. City Secretary Jenny Page read the counts to the board and all attendees with both runoff candidates present.“According to the official voting results posted to the City of Humble website, the final results showed a one-point difference between the remaining candidates. Arliss Ann Bentley received 145 absentee votes, 108 early votes and 47 Election Day votes. The total vote count for Arliss is 300 total votes,” said Page. “Paula Settle received 131 absentee votes, 106 early voting votes, and 64 Election Day results, giving her a total of 301 votes.” Humble City Mayor Merle Aaron added, “During the time which I have been here, which has been
