TAGUIG CITY, Apr. 9 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the private sector vowed to continue the reskilling and upskilling of Filipinos amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
TESDA, last March 26, forged Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Pilmico Foods Corporation (PILMICO), and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) to provide skills training to Filipinos.
TESDA Secretary Secretary Isidro Lapeña and PILMICO President and CEO Tristan Roberto Aboitiz signed a MOA which aims to establish partnership between the two parties to conduct series of live webinars related to baking and cooking programs.
TESDA likewise partnered with Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) through a MOA signed by Lapeña and PSFI Executive Director Sebastian Quiniones, Jr. The partnership aims to improve human capital through industry-based learning and skills development.

The Philippines has hosted the first ASEAN Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council meeting.
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Isidro Lapeña convened Wednesday, March 10, the members of the ASEAN TVET Council for its first meeting via virtual conferencing platform.

In a statement on Friday, March 12, TESDA said the first meeting focused on the selection of the council’s vice-chair, discussion of the rules of procedure, and the development of a work plan of strategies to enhance industry participation, and address emerging issues brought by the ongoing pandemic, technological transformations, and other developments.

“I hereby direct all regional directors to facilitate the distribution of all toolkits of TESDA scholars under the 2019 STEP within their respective region,” he said during the ceremonial turnover of toolkits to 2019 STEP scholars in Metro Manila, Wednesday, Feb. 9 ,at the TESDA Complex in Taguig City.
“To all our 2019 STEP graduates nationwide, please get in touch with the provincial offices nearest you so you can immediately get your toolkits,” Lapeña added.
For his part, TESDA-National Capital Region Regional Director Florencio F. Sunico, Jr. said TESDA District Offices in Metro Manila have already started their distribution when the STEP starter tool kits arrived last month.
