Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Friday urged the government to mobilize the use of reservists of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to intensify efforts to control the spread of COVID-19.
“Ang totoo niyan ay kulang na kulang po tayo sa human resources (The truth is that we lack human resources). And, in order, to accelerate further our daily vaccination rate, I urged the National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) to also tap our military reservists,” Go said.
Go, chairman of the Senate health and demography committee, expressed his concern that there are challenges in deliveries and rollout of the vaccines due to human resource deficit, making it harder to reach herd immunity soon for the whole nation.

Panelo informed Robredo that the arrival of the initial batch of doses of vaccines from Pfizer has been hampered by issues related to indemnification requirements. A bill seeking to establish an indemnification fund for people who suffer bad side effects after getting the COVID vaccines is already pending in Congress, he said.
The vice president earlier expressed concern about the delay in the country’s vaccination program, saying that even Bangladesh has began its inoculations ahead of the Philippines.

Bacolod City mayor and LCP national president Evelio Leonardia expressed elation over the timely signing of President Duterte of Memorandum Order 51 series of 2021 where LGUs that are allowed to procure COVID-19 vaccines under existing laws and issuances, including those relevant to Emergency Use Authorizations, may make authorized payments exceeding the 15 percent limit, provided they are authorized to do so by the Chief Implementer, subject to the criteria and limits to be established by the National Task Force and the Department of Health, consistent with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
