Free Seasonal Saturday Event Boxes available at MMAM (6/2/2021)
It’s a tour, an activity, a craft, a snack and a curated music playlist all neatly packaged in a box for you to enjoy with your family and friends. And it’s free.
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum (MMAM) is again offering its free Seasonal Saturdays Event Boxes. The Summer Art Shenanigans Event Box will be available to reserve beginning June 1. Each Event Box includes elements of the popular Seasonal Saturdays program for use at home, and $1 admission for recipients to come visit MMAM at their leisure.
“This Event Box brings a little slice of the Museum into your home, and still offers low-cost admission to come enjoy the amazing collections. Most people are so surprised when they come in and see the great artworks we have right here in Winona,” says Heather Casper, MMAM curator of education.
Museo de las Americas, 861 Santa Fe Drive The Museo’s brand-new exhibition
SOMOS: On Domestic Violence, Resilience and Healing takes a hard look at the social reverberations of domestic abuse through the eyes and hearts of thirteen Denver artists. Curated by Carina Bañuelos-Harrison, the show is meant to inspire discussion, and to that end, it is accompanied by a strong lineup of public programming. Bañuelos-Harrison, Latina Safehouse director Angela Ceseña and Museo director Claudia Moran will be joined by members of the safehouse’s Comadre Network for the series kickoff, “Motherhood, Domestic Violence and Healing.” The live, in-person event is free, but an RSVP is recommended here.
