Ana Vazquez marked the long-awaited return to action in the Archery World Cup by setting an Americas record score in women s recurve qualifying on the first day of the season s opening event in Guatemala City.
The 20-year-old Mexican scored 680 in the 72-arrow, 70 metres ranking round and also led her team to a continental record of 1,988 points, bettering the previous mark by two points. I didn t realise it was a continental record, Vazquez, who won silver at the World Youth Championships in 2019, told World Archery. I was just concentrating on getting a good score. When they told me it felt very good, and my team all embraced me.
