Ana Vazquez marked the long-awaited return to action in the Archery World Cup by setting an Americas record score in women's recurve qualifying on the first day of the season's opening event in Guatemala City.
The 20-year-old Mexican scored 680 in the 72-arrow, 70 metres ranking round and also led her team to a continental record of 1,988 points, bettering the previous mark by two points.
"I didn't realise it was a continental record," Vazquez, who won silver at the World Youth Championships in 2019, told World Archery.
"I was just concentrating on getting a good score.
"When they told me it felt very good, and my team all embraced me.
