Matt Doherty, a longtime fixture in the world of college basketball, joined Monday’s episode of The Iso with Dan Dickau to tell stories about learning pivoting drills from Dr. J, what he learned from the legendary Dean Smith, playing with Michael Jordan at UNC and more.
Doherty jokingly refers to himself as a “utility infielder” for his many roles in the world of college basketball, which include playing at North Carolina, where he went on to coach from 2000-03 (AP coach of the year in 2001). He was also the head coach at Notre Dame, Florida Atlantic and SMU and served as an Associated Commissioner with the Atlantic 10.
