Strata or race. And that theyre there to soy those folks, theyre there to protect those folks. And i hope that they also tell them and provide for them care. Because i think one of the big issues that were going to see as a result of this aside and away from host having audio issues. Let me direct your attention to the Washington Post sunday opinion section. A long list of other people whether at a walmart playing in a park, a traffic stop, already arrested or a car breaks down all who were killed at the hands of Police Inside the Washington Post. Robert from greenville, north carolina. Caller as far as the Police Departments, the fraternal order of police and the Police Unions as long as theyre running the show were going to have these problems because they have too much, they just favor Law Enforcement to the degree where theres officers on the force that have had 10, 15, 20 writeups and theyre still on the force, and if you are in the real workplace that wouldnt happen. Thank you. H
Environment as it can be. And one of the things that occurs is these incendiary comments that are coming from the Union Leaders that actually worsen the situations instead of improving it. And what happens is some of the comments from Union Leaders achieve the opposite of what the Union Leaders want to achieve. They actually make Police Officers lives more put them at more risk. So i think itll be great for unions to understand that our job is to protect our members. But, you know, our job is to also serve the public and their voice matter and certain things they feel, if they feel like certain things are occurring, a way that its not supposed to we should take heed to that and listen to them. Thank you, sir. Sorry, thank you. Thank you very much. I want to thank the panel for your testimony and for being here today. Now, i turn it over to Task Force Members for any questions they may have for any of the panelists and well start with the chief. I want to thank you all for taking the ti
During my 23 years as a Police Officer from the oldschool you didnt see that but now you do. You see that probably because of social media and more exposures to a bad health can do to you. I think also young officers are more apt to go for psychological help if they need it. Again the oldschool probably not so much. One of the sad things i have seen in my research into ptsd is that when they look up a mortality studies of Police Officers, Police Officers compared to the general population die at a younger age. Some 10 years younger on average than those in the general population. So we are seeing greater numbers of death of cardiovascular disease among younger officers which is kind of surprising and kind of shocking. The thing you should understand about stress is its cumulative as you are continually exposed to trauma day after day and stress day after day eventually is going to wear your system down. Some of our Research Shows for example the body becomes this regulated under chroni
Jordan and lebanon than inside of syria. You would see an implosion. Massive malnutrition rates, mortality rates through the roof. Most of the deaths now unfortunately are because of the war. We would probably see in terms of social indicators a much larger humanitarian catastrophe without aid. And i might add, obviously if possible we want to get our assistance to people in their homes so they dont have to flee. They need to be able to flee if they feel they have to. But it is better to get it there and then that reduces the strain on the surrounding countries. And as you mentioned, jordan is a critical partner for us. The same with lebanon, we are concerned about their stability in those countries, that is critical. And frankly, terrorism. A young man growing up, he cant feed his family, he hasnt got a job, hes going to be much more open to the lure if you will, of people asking him to do bad things. Thank you very much. I think i got my question answered. Mrs. Frankel. Mr. Yo ho. An
Because we know that you have a great relationship, or at least, you know on the distribution better than most. Your mayor brought you here. You have twice monthly meetings with your police chief. But for someone whos starting not from a good a position of, you know relatively good relations, i think maybe there are some more concrete things you can say about how you let it start with the union representative. And if you could give us ideas about a strategy, that would be useful, at least for me to hear. Like getting your membership on board or something. I dont know how you do that. Its a fair question. And we all have our own constituencies. And people sometimes try to overindicator to theirs. For example, if im expecting a public official to be the one to take that leap of faith, what you have to realize is that they answer to their constituency and that theyre going to weigh that very heavily. The chief answers in our city to the city manager who answers to the mayor and all the co
