start the coverage tonight live in saratoga. reporter: heather we are here on big bason way. above me on highway 35 it s a different story. there is black ice and it s covered in snow. skyline boulevard is blanketed in snow, trees covered in the white stuff, some branches couldn t take the weight. for some the drive up highway nine was dangerous, this driver had to get towed. we were going to fast and we slid on some snow and we hit the rocks. reporter: others took it as a challenge and wanted to drive in it. first time see snow on the road, why not. reporter: you came up on purpose? absolutely. that s what an old guy does. reporter: after several spin outs the police closed it down for a couple hours. caltrans brought in snow plows to clear the roadway. on the sides people were make the most of it. these families came up from santa clara to play. never mind it was only a couple inches. when you can drive ten minutes and have snow, it s great. it s really fu
