WASHINGTON Huascar Ynoa hit a grand slam and pitched seven stress-free innings in a dominant two-way performance, leading the Atlanta Braves to a 6-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.
Ynoa blasted a fastball from Tanner Rainey 427 feet to centre field in the sixth inning, extending his left arm on the follow-through like a polished slugger. It was the first grand slam by a major league pitcher since Cincinnati’s Anthony DeSclafani on June 23, 2018.

Perhaps it wasn’t a shock: Ynoa homered in his last start and was 4 for 5 at the plate in his previous two outings. He is hitting .385 (5 for 13) this season.
Oakland goes for its 14th consecutive victory when the Athletics take on Baltimore at Camden Yards. Jesús Luzardo (1-1, 5.89 ERA) is on the mound as the A’s look to complete a three-game sweep.
This is the third-longest winning streak in Oakland history. The A’s won 14 straight in 1988 and set a then-American League record with 20 consecutive victories in 2002.
Cleveland broke that mark with 22 straight wins in 2017 - Oakland’s string is the longest in the majors since that Indians run.
The Athletics, who lost their first six games this season, have outscored opponents 83-36 during the winning streak.
Arizona Diamondbacks-Atlanta Braves game postponed by weather; doubleheader on Sunday
ATLANTA The game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves scheduled for Saturday night was postponed because of inclement weather.
A storm brought hail and heavy rain to Truist Park on Saturday afternoon, and the probability of additional rain forced the postponement.
The game will be made up with a traditional doubleheader on Sunday. The first seven-inning game is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. ET. The second game will begin approximately 40 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
This is Arizona s first game postponed by weather since May 4-5, 2015, at Colorado. It ends a streak of 866 games without a weather postponement, the longest active stretch in the majors.
Mets Morning News: deGrom is must-see TV, Mets injured pitchers progressing in rehab

Marcus Stroman had his first rough outing of 2021 in the Mets’ 7-1 loss to the Nationals yesterday. He lasted just four innings and gave up five runs four of them earned on eight hits. The poor umpiring and defense certainly did not help his cause, but this was also a case of a contact pitcher not having his best day, which tends to result in, well, contact. The newly recalled Stephen Tarpley was called upon to relieve Stroman and eat innings, but was unable to do that. He gave up two runs without recording an out, putting the game even further out of reach for the once again lifeless Mets offense, who failed to do any damage at all against Joe Ross. Robert Gsellman, Jacob Barnes, and Jeurys Familia then combined for five scoreless innings, but the only run of the game for the Mets came on a solo homer from Michael Conforto.
