CQ teen s reaction saves friend suffering drug overdose

Premium Content Subscriber only A Central Queensland teenager’s quick thinking saved the life of his friend who suffered a drug overdose at Nebo. Samuel Caleb Christensen, 19, and CJ Warren Single, 18, fronted Moranbah Magistrates Court on March 11 for three drug-related offences. Police prosecutor Sergeant Paul Cramp said police and paramedics were called to a Water Street address at Nebo on October 2, 2020, in response to a reported drug overdose. Christensen called triple-0 after Single took acid, the court heard. Queensland Ambulance Service aided Single, who suffered a drug induced episode and was taken to Mackay Hospital. On arrival at the Nebo address, Police located 27 cannabis seeds, 1.8g of cannabis buds, two pipes and a bag containing a single tab of acid (LSD), Sergeant Cramp said.

CQ tradie struggles to maintain job after drink driving

Premium Content Subscriber only A Mackay-based tradesman lost his licence while he was in Moranbah for work after being caught drink driving. Deon Wesley Ryan, 39, pleaded guilty at Moranbah Magistrates Court on March 11 to driving while over the middle alcohol limit but not over the high alcohol limit. Police prosecutor Sergeant Paul Cramp said Ryan was intercepted by police about 9.30pm on January 28, after being seen driving out of the Black Nugget Hotel car park. He took part in a random-breath test and later returned a Blood-Alcohol Content reading of .137, well over the middle alcohol limit while on a P2 driver’s licence, the court heard.

Six people sentenced in Sarina for drug-related offences

Premium Content Bradley James Hunter Prosecutor Sergeant Marcus Hahn told Sarina Magistrates Court earlier this month that Bradley James Hunter s saliva tested positive for a chemical compound found in marijuana. Sgt Hahn said police had intercepted Hunter driving along Range Rd at Sarina just after 11pm on October 24 this year. Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan reminded Hunter that he faced court only two months prior for a similar offence to which he replied, Would you prefer that I drink alcohol? Hunter pleaded guilty to one count of driving with relevant drug in the saliva while on a probationary licence. He was fined $550, disqualified from driving for four months and a conviction was recorded.
