CONCORD A U.S. District Court judge sentenced a Farmington woman to five years in prison for her role in a fentanyl trafficking operation that operated in the Rochester area.
Sasha Rand, 34, of Farmington, previously pleaded guilty Sept. 11. She and and her husband Derek Rand were arrested in December 2018 as part of a string of arrests of fentanyl traffickers in the Rochester area.
According to court documents and statements made in court, the Rands used New Hampshire-based drug couriers to obtain fentanyl in Massachusetts and bring it to New Hampshire for distribution.
Derek Rand was sentenced in December 2019 to serve 7.5 years in federal prison.

A 30-year-old Methuen man was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison last Thursday after being convicted of possessing controlled substances with intent to distribute.
New Hampshire U.S. Attorney Scott W. Murray said Alberto Rosario was found with fentanyl, crack cocaine, and $800 while he was a passenger in a car pulled over by Nashua, N.H., Police June 6, 2018. Police believed the car was involved in drug trafficking. Murray’s office said Rosario was a passenger in the vehicle. The driver later admitted to driving Rosario from Lowell to Nashua and acknowledged that Rosario was distributing drugs.

A Navy veteran was arrested Monday (11 January) accused o threatening to kill US lawmakers opposed to Donald Trump and leaving crude, ranting, homophobic voicemails to congresspeople.
Ryder Winegar, 33, is facing federal charges and was taken to custody for allegedly leaving a string of voicemails to at least six members of Congress, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.

One of the problems in understanding the U.S. criminal justice system is records are dispersed. Records are kept in many different formats, and not easily searchable or sortable by offense. There are both federal and state crimes. The data is not all digitized. When it is, it is not all in searchable databases available to the public.

Washington, DC - The Department of Justice announced today that it would require Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (Harvard Pilgrim) and Health Plan Holdings (fka Tufts Health Plan) to divest Tufts Health Freedom Plan Inc. (Tufts Freedom), in order to proceed with their merger. Tufts Freedom is Health Plan Holdings’ commercial health insurance business in New Hampshire.
The department has approved UnitedHealth Group Inc. (United), as the buyer. Health insurance is an integral part of the American healthcare system, and the proposed settlement will maintain competition for the sale of commercial health insurance to private employers in New Hampshire with fewer than 100 employees.
