Hule, Arkadianou Earn Singles Wins In Loss To No. 1 UNC

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Women’s Tennis student-athletes Petra Hule and Anna Arkadianou shined on Sunday afternoon in the Seminoles’ 5-2 loss to top-ranked North Carolina at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. Senior and 15th-ranked Hule continued her torrid play by defeating 12th-ranked Cameron Morra, 6-1, 6-4. In singles matches, the native of Adelaide, Australia, has won 11 of her 12 matches in the spring. After a dominant first set, Hule had to fend off Morra in the second set but was able to pull out another victory. The win comes on top of defeating 20th-ranked Georgia Drummy of Duke in straight sets on Friday, securing a strong weekend for Hule. Overall, Hule is now 15-1 in singles matches. Arkadianou played one of the best matches of her young career as she picked up a hard-fought victory over 10th-ranked Reilly Tran in three sets (7-5, 5-7, 14-12). Tallahassee, FL – The 18th-ranked FSU women’s tennis advanced to the winner’s bracket at the ITA Kickoff Weekend regional in Tallahassee Saturday afternoon. The Seminoles defeated Illinois 4-3 and will now face the winner of No. 19 Florida and FIU Sunday at 2:00 p.m. The win moved FSU to a perfect 3-0 on the season. Vic Allen and Kianah Motosono came off first on court two with a 6-2 victory. With the score even, it was up to Petra Hule and Lesedi Jacobs to put the Noles in the lead. The pair improved to 3-0 as a team with a 6-4 win on court one to take the point. “The team did such a mature job in doubles to start the match and came out on fire,” said FSU Head Coach Jen Hyde. “We got some big leads on courts one and two and to have to forfeit three is an added pressure but they handled it really we

No. 9 Women's Tennis Downs USF 6-1

Tallahassee, FL – The ninth-ranked FSU women’s tennis team opened its dual match season Tuesday night with an impressive 6-1 win over in-state foe USF. The Seminoles (1-0) clinched the win early by taking four singles points in straight sets. FSU’s only loss came in a third-set tiebreaker. “It was awesome to get out there and compete again, this time as a team and for the first time since March of last year,” said FSU Head Coach Jen Hyde. “It was tons of fun to get a couple of our doubles teams back together against a really good USF team. It was their first match as well and it was good to see our girls get their teeth into their matches and stay there and do what they needed to do. It is just awesome to compete and see different jerseys on the other side of the net.”
