Charter Street Plans COUNCILLORS deferred considering proposals for a £3million housing estate to provide accommodation for military veterans and the homeless after more information was provided just 45 minutes before they we due to debate it.
Hyndburn Council’s planning committee were due to discuss an application from Buildings for Humanity for a site on Charter Street in Accrington yesterday/today/on Wednesday. Officers had recommended refusal because insufficient information has been provided to allow consideration of its impact on biodiversity and ecology and an unacceptable loss of trees. But 45 minutes before the meeting was due to start Scott Moon from the applicants provided further information on the scheme.
An alleged racial slur provoked a Rockhampton man to punch another man multiple times at a rugby league grand final at Browne Park stadium in 2018, a court has heard. Tre Raven John Richards, 27, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton District Court on January 13 to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm. Crown prosecutor Edward Fleetwood said both Richards and the victim, who were unknown to each other, had attended the rugby league grand final played between Rockhampton Brothers and Yeppoon Seagulls at Browne Park on September 1, 2018. Mr Fleetwood said near the end of the match the victim and Richards walked past each other, and Richards believed he heard the victim make a racial slur when asking him to move.

Subscriber only A Central Queensland has faced court for assaulting his former partner after a camping trip on the Capricorn Coast. Clinton James Field, 48, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton District Court on Tuesday to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm. Crown prosecutor Samantha O Rourke said Field and the victim were in a domestic relationship some years before the incident on April 13, 2017 but remained in contact. Ms O Rourke said there had been a camping trip overnight and some disharmony between the pair. She said, ultimately, it culminated that morning with Field pushing the victim to the ground and punching her twice to the head, causing minor injuries.
She said his partner woke to get some water and a loud bang woke the male victim.
âHe called out and observed the side light window smashed,â Ms Sargent said.
She said Corbett smashed the glass window before unlocking the front door, pushing it open and the four offenders âstormedâ into the house. James Michael Glenn Corbett.
Ms Sargent said the male victim retrieved nunchucks after identifying Wheaton and Phillips.
She said Phillips had lived with the male victim and he met Wheaton during that period.
Ms Sargent said the female victim went to the bedroom and then left the house.

Without appearances at a public hearing regarding it, members of the Sun Prairie City Council on Tuesday, Dec. 7 approved a resolution authorizing the issuance of $3.5 million in bonds for Prairie Development, Ltd. The Prairie Lakes development plans to use the money to construct approximately 25,000 square feet of retail space at Hoepker and Highway C and lease the space to tenants as part of the retail development.
