Eskom chair Mpho Makwana says the utility’s former CEO Andre de Ruyter "had to go" as his bombshell interview with eNCA had brought the company into disrepute.
The SIU has told parliamentarians that they only became aware of the private intelligence report into allegations of rampant corruption and maladministration at Eskom on the morning of the former CEO’s appearance at the committee.
Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts will test claims of corruption at Eskom when the police, the Hawks and Special Investigating Unit appear before it on Tuesday.
Former Eskom CEO André De Ruyter was approached by the Hawks’ Mpumalanga head the day after a televised interview aired in which he made widespread corruption claims at the power utility.
