Now a professor at new york university, his book, the knowledge machine how irrationality created modern science, is i think critically important at the time when distrust of science is on the rise. The book begins with a simple question but not at all a simple answer. Why does it take 2,000 years after the invention of philosophy and mathematics for humans to start using science to learn the secrets of the universe.
