ELIZABETHTON — East Elk Avenue in downtown Elizabethton was filled with cars on Saturday afternoon and the sidewalks were filled with trick or treaters as the Carter County Car Club
ELIZABETHTON â The Carter County Car Club will be hosting its annual Car Show in downtown Elizabethton this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Club President Eddie Brumitt said this will mark the 16th straight year the event has been held in downtown after a two-year run at the Borla Performance Company in south Johnson City.
âThis is our yearly fundraiser to support our childrenâs charities,â Brumitt said. He said last year the club raised $21,990. That was all donated to charities, and a lot of the money was raised during the one-day show. The rest of it was raised during the clubâs weekly Cruise-Ins.
ELIZABETHTON â The pandemic has ruined a lot traditional events this year, from sporting events to Easter celebrations and from high school graduations to trick or treating. But COVID-19 did not spoil the annual contributions the Carter County Car Club makes to childrenâs charities every Christmas.
The car club raises the money it gives to the charities by accepting donations at the weekly cruise-ins it hosts in downtown Elizabethton every Saturday evening during the warm months of the year and from its annual car show in July. Club President Eddie Brumitt said it did not look like the club would be able to raise very much money this year because the pandemic forced the cancellation of the first two months of cruise-ins.
