Make In India Push: Govt Approves Eight More Toy Manufacturing Clusters At A Cost Of Rs 2,300 Crore

Nirmala Sitharaman with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a Make-in-India conclave In a big Make in India push for domestic manufacturing of toys, the Government has given approval for the building of eight toy manufacturing clusters at a cost of Rs 2,300 crore, Economic Times. The Government is looking to establish the eight toy clusters under the existing set of schemes such as the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (Sfurti). Once set up, these will boost the manufacturing of toys made of wood, lac, palm leaves, bamboo and fabric. Of the eight clusters, three will come up in Madhya Pradesh, two in Rajasthan, and one each in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, it should be noted that in addition to these, two toy clusters are already under implementation in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh under the aforementioned Sfurti scheme. Overall, the Government plans to establish a total of 35 toy clusters across the nation.

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena has said that the growth of Khadi industries has made a quantum jump from six per cent in 2014 to 29 per cent now. Addressing the media at city hotel on Saturday, Saxena said, We re approaching various ministries, schools, universities and other to adop khadi. Some of the institutions have accepted our plea. All paramilitary forces will adopt khadi products in their canteens. We ve IITs and NITs with us to provide technical support. Under the PMEGP (Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme) 2.28 lakh people have been employed. To make traditional industries more productive and competitive and facilitating their sustainable development the Centre is setting up a fund for the generation of traditional industries, he said.
