The Madras High Court has made it clear that the habeas corpus petition challenging the preventive detention of a person who is accused of committing offences under the Schedules Caste/Scheduled Tribe.
A complaint invoking the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and email exchanges between the victim and senior employees, reveal patterns of harassment and derogatory, caste-based comments.
"No person, whether it be the media or Governmental agencies, have the right to peep into the private lives of the citizens of this country, without there being a valid reason," the Court said.
