Governor Roy Cooper vetoed a bill that would have eliminated the need for North Carolinians to have a local sheriff issue a permit before they could purchase a handgun. Senate Bill 41 was passed by both the North Carolina House of Representatives and the North Carolina Senate earlier this month.
The Corrections and Criminal Law Committee voted down Senate Bill 41 (SB41) last week. This bill pushes for harsher penalties for acts of animal cruelty.
California’s governor recently signed SB 41 into law, enacting the Genetic Information Privacy Act. The law applies to a direct-to-consumer genetic testing company that collects genetic data from California residents.
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law two bills related to genetic data. AB 825 for data breach notification requirements for businesses and government agencies, SB 41 will establish the Genetic Information Privacy Act.
