Update to Texas Legislature Through HB 2024

HB 2024 provides an exception to the ten-year statute of repose found at Section 16.009 of the Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code. Under the exception, the statute of repose is shortened to six years if a builder or contractor provides a written warranty.

Supreme Court Decides Courts Must Stay Until Appeal is Resolved

The US Supreme Court sided with defendants seeking to compel arbitration of claims filed against them in federal court. Announcing a new rule, Coinbase v. Bielski held that when a court denies a motion the court must stay all of its proceedings until the appeal is resolved.
