Right now countless chimney swifts, a small migratory bird that can eat 2,000 insects per day, are hanging out in the Brazilian rainforests, waiting for their summer homes on the United States’ East Coast to warm up again. When they fly back up north and prepare to make the journey again, they’re going to need a place to stay.
