The Opposition thinks since the ruling party is following Savarkar s Hindutva philosophy, they want to regain their lost political mileage (by attacking Savarkar). By doing so, they think they will get their power back.
Various programmes will be organised to propagate the ideas of Savarkar on his birthday, May 28, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Savarkar made great contributions to the country’s Independence and national development, he added.
Savarkar has been a centre of political war of words in India. Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, after his disqualification from parliament said, “My name is not Savarkar. I am a Gandhi. I won't apologise"
