The things that has happened since the Great Recession is hollowing out of the middle of the labor market. What that means is growth that has been happening has been happening in the highestpaid, highest skilled jobs. Unfortunately the lowest paid jobs have a shrinking. So we focus on making very deep connections with employers in those sectors that do still offer middleaged jobs and then building up Career Pathways, Training Programs in partnership with those employers and health sectors. I will just tell you a little bit more about what that looks like. A fantastic book which has to do with understanding other peoples stories. Lets just jump right in and ask you, what led you to this and tell us the background. I think your assessment is exactly right. We dont converse anymore and we have lost that as a art of conversation. The political rhetoric on both sides dominates conversations. This is a conversation about human beings and an ethical issue. For me, it started years ago in childhood and adolescence. In 2004, when i made my first visit to eastern chad and the refugee camps, right as they were coming over. And in those camps, i would say it is when you nt start stors. Ng to threfugee i saw the best of humanity and the worst of humanity. Many subsequent trips. Years later, and looking at this world we are living in, we often forget there are people involved and thats what led to this book. So you use this wonderful term, real people and it occurs to me that listening and carrying has more to do with just the words you hear, it has

You know the jobs report just came out. Looks like were going steady year. Thats some good news on friday, ok . And temperatures are steady. Theyre going going up pretty soon. I just want to note were matching again today. Very still we all get us to the dark. It was yeah, its still up. But they were all manifesting some blue skies today thats something that were going to see lot of across the bay area, maybe not just yet in San Francisco where its still kind of gray for now, but a lot of us across the rest of the bay area are definitely sitting under that sunshine. Visibility still could erupt right near the coastline where that drizzle that mist as continue where youve got the sunshine spots like brentwood, pittsburgh, already back up in the 70s now elsewhere in the bay area. Most of us still in the 50s or 60s. Now later on today, were going to be warmer. Weve got our temperatures climbing to the 70s and 80s. So warm afternoon warmer than weve got used to lately. Hotter for the rest
