ukraine s president calls the move historic . tonight with the context, former senior advisor to george w bush, ron christie. and former advisor to hillary clinton, amanda renteria. the us supreme court has upheld the right of americans to carry guns in public, striking down a century old restrictions in new york that limited the ability of people to carry weapons. the legislation required residents to prove they had proper cause to have a concealed handgun. the judges ruled that it violated the constitutional right to bear arms. the governor of new york state kathy hochul described the ruling as outrageous. this decision isn tjust reckless, it s reprehensible. it s not what new yorkers want. and we should have the right of determination of what we want to do in terms of our gun laws in our state. the federal government will not have sweeping laws to protect us, then our states and our governors have a moral responsibility to do what we can, and have laws to protect our ci

election-year issue. meanwhile, the ongoing ethics scandal surrounding some of the justices could also be a major factor this fall. recent efforts to hold the justices accountable have largely stalled in congress and this week, senate republicans blocked a democratic sponsored bill that would have required the supreme court to adopt a more binding code of conduct and would have exposed the justices to greater oversight. democratic representatives alexandria ocasio-cortez and jamie raskin also announced that they plan to introduce legislation in the house that would do the same thing. but, republicans will likely prevent that from even getting a vote on the house floor and that is just the political reality right now on capitol hill. that means that the future of the supreme court might very well be another important issue that the voters will be forced to reckon with when they had to the polls in november. for more on this, i am joined by molly jong-fast, special corresponden

Two victims of the black cab rapist john worboys have won a Landmark Legal case against the metropolitan police after officers failed to take action when they reported him. The women were sexually assaulted by worboys in 2003 and 2007 and said their treatment by police, who didnt believe them, caused them mental harm. The ruling by the Supreme Court means police could now face legal action if they fail to properly investigate cases. Our Legal Correspondent Clive Coleman has been speaking to one of the women.
