Nathalie tocci, former eu Foreign Policy advisor. The longtime capitol hill correspondent, and now Washington Post live anchor, leigh ann caldwell, and christopher steele, formerly head of the russia desk at mi6. Hello, welcome to the progamme. The photographs speak for themselves. Red tabs, yellow tabs, top secret documents, some of them marked hcs human Confidential Sources which the Us Government believe the former President Donald Trump was attempting to conceal. The fbi seized 33 boxes from mar a lago earlier this month, more than 100 classified documents, three of which were found mixed with other papers in his desk and not in locked storage as where they were supposed to be. In a 36 page filing to a federal judge, prosecutors said that at a june meeting the trump team had certified in writing that all remaining documents were contained in a single sealed envelope that was handed over. But in august and in a matter of hours the fbi had recovered twice as many documents with classification markings, the evidence filed last night is in response to trumps attempts to get a us districtjudge Aileen Cannon to appoint a special master, to review and return documents taken. Leanne, to see these documents laid out in order on the floor with all the markings on them, it seems to me that that was a really important element that the dod wanted to put in the public domain. In the public domain. Absolutely. Because it in the public domain. Absolutely. Because it has in the public domain. Absolutely. Because it has been in the public domain. Absolutely. Because it has been known in the public domain. Absolutely. Because it has been known for i in the public domain. Absolutely. Because it has been known for a | in the public domain. Absolutely. Because it has been known for a long time that former President Trump has had a pretty cavalier relationship with classified information and classified documents. And now that this is all been written out in this Department Ofjustice legal filing, there is no Press Conference but they did this in their legal filing. The fact that they included that picture was in attempt for a message to the public of why they were concerned and why they went through with this. Of course we dont know the contents of these documents and specificityjust the contents of these documents and specificity just yet. The contents of these documents and specificityjust yet. But the contents of these documents and specificity just yet. But this the contents of these documents and specificityjust yet. But this is the justice of our through the court system making their case as to why they went to this, some would say extreme step of searching and confiscating government documents from donald trump home at mar a lago. The fact that the Trump Attorneys as well head said that they had handed everything over when not in fact was not the case. This is not been something that is just been happening over the past couple of weeks but something thats been happening on a month long conversation between the Trump Legal Team and the Department Ofjustice. And so the culmination of what is happening now is what the Department Ofjustice is saying is that the Trump Legal Team was not being forthcoming about the information, the documents they had and what they handed over. All of this is going to be taken into account at this next phase tomorrow at this Court Proceeding. Phase tomorrow at this Court Proceeding phase tomorrow at this court roceedin. ,. ,. , proceeding. After material to be squirreled away. After all. Material to be squirreled away. Afterall, it material to be squirreled away. After all, it looks as though hes had possession of it for 18 months. The quick had possession of it for 18 months. The quick student arises then is to end the the quick student arises then is to end the government actually realise this material was stashed down there and been this material was stashed down there and been in this material was stashed down there and been in a secured area. What has he been and been in a secured area. What has he been doing with it for the last 18 months . I think those questions still remain 18 months . I think those questions still remain open. And 18 months . I think those questions still remain open. Still remain open. And anyone who had access still remain open. And anyone who had access to still remain open. And anyone who had access to maralago. Still remain open. And anyone who had access to maralago. Trump| still remain open. And anyone who i had access to maralago. Trump and had access to mar a lago. Trump and said since the search we were working nicely, they couldvejust asked. It reveals in this document that there are several opportunities for the trump team to return with a obtain for them if we look back at the time i got a january the National Archives went down to mar a lago, the retrieve 15 boxes of white house records, some highly classified with they said were out of their folders have a mix up with other documents, some torn up. That is what triggered the joint investigation by the Department Of Justice and the fbi. Injune in response to a Grand Jury Subpoena they went back to search a Basement Room at the trump residence where these boxes had been stored and according to this filing they were prevented from looking inside the trump team handed him an envelope claiming where the last of the secret documents, and fact is we now know there were twice as many remaining and not all of them in the storage room. When i think is extraordinary, when you talk about what was there is the Counterintelligence Agency went along with prosecutors who you would imagine had high Security Clearance was that they had to be given further Security Clearance even to go in for the search. Go in for the search. Yes. Thats how classified go in for the search. Yes. Thats how classified these go in for the search. Yes. Thats how classified these documents | go in for the search. Yes. Thats i how classified these documents are. You laid out that timeline and that detracts from Donald Trumps entire argument because they did ask nicely. They asked nicely multiple times. Then they asked with the law behind them through the subpoena. So they realised throughout this process that they were not being given all of the information, the Trump Legal Team was not completely honest with what was in these documents or what they possessed still. So this was the result of it. Whats happened now in the us is its become just another political argument as well. Theres the legal side of it but then there is also the politic side of it as well for some theres many in the Republican Party who are still adamantly defending donald trump and using this as a political crown jewel. We will see. Merrick garland the head of the Department Ofjustice seems to not be taking any of that into consideration and moving forward. Yes, just vision to be made on thursday on the special master. We will keep you across that. On this program last night, we brought you the news that mikhail gorbachev, the last president of the soviet union, had died, aged 91. Since then, tributes have been paid around the world to mr gorbachev, and the role he played in bringing a peaceful end to the cold war. There are few figures who have had such a profound effect on the 20th century. The former german chancellor, angela merkel, who lived behind the iron curtain in east germany, said he exemplified how a single statesman could change the world for the better. Her successor, olaf sholz compared mr gorbachev s legacy to that of the current russian leader. Translation we know hes died at a time when not only has i democracy in russia failed theres no other way to describe the Current Situation there but also russia and the russian president , putin, are digging new trenches in europe. Christopher, you are in the embassy at the end of his rule for the very fluid situation. The soviet union is breaking up, tell us about that. And what it was like to be in moscow at that time. I what it was like to be in moscow at that time. ~. , , that time. I think it was slightly unreal in a that time. I think it was slightly unreal in a sense. That time. I think it was slightly unreal in a sense. I that time. I think it was slightly unreal in a sense. I actually i that time. I think it was slightly i unreal in a sense. I actually think that going unreal in a sense. I actually think that going to have happen before i arrived that going to have happen before i arrived in that going to have happen before i arrived in 1990 which was probably the falling of the berlin wall. I think the falling of the berlin wall. I think what gorbachev was trying to do was think what gorbachev was trying to do was admirable. It was to create some do was admirable. It was to create some kind do was admirable. It was to create some kind of confederation as a successor some kind of confederation as a Successor State to the soviet union, which Successor State to the soviet union, which would Successor State to the soviet union, which would be based on the rule of law and which would be based on the rule of law and consent. It proved impossible for them and i think it proved impossible for them and i think it proved impossible probably because the soviet union was an empire that had been the soviet union was an empire that had been built on violence and conquest and suppression. Even at the time conquest and suppression. Even at the time we couldnt really believe that this the time we couldnt really believe that this would settle itself down as a group of independent states that were as a group of independent states that were trading with each other and so that were trading with each other and so on that were trading with each other and so on. A bit like an eu in eastern and so on. A bit like an eu in Eastern Europe. The irony of it is of course, Eastern Europe. The irony of it is of course, while she effectively created of course, while she effectively created the conditions which liberated countries in Eastern Europe liberated countries in Eastern Europe such as poland and bulgaria and czech europe such as poland and bulgaria and Czech Republic and so on, ultimately in russia where history turns ultimately in russia where history turns to ultimately in russia where history turns to follows certain cyclical patterns. Turns to follows certain cyclical patterns, of course ultimately his legacy patterns, of course ultimately his legacy failed. We are now seeing an attempt legacy failed. We are now seeing an attempt to legacy failed. We are now seeing an attempt to reverse practically everything that gorbachev achieved in the everything that gorbachev achieved in the 19805. Everything that gorbachev achieved in the 1980s in the 1980s. There was this extraordinary in the 1980s. There was this extraordinary moment i in the 1980s. There was this extraordinary moment in i in the 1980s. There was this. Extraordinary moment in 1991 in the 1980s. There was this extraordinary moment in 1991 while you are there where there was a coup and borisjohnson as barb hated in the parliament and gorbachev away from moscow, takes her on the street. What did that tell us back then at about the split in the country that has brought us in some way to where we are today . I country that has brought us in some way to where we are today . Way to where we are today . I think the main issue way to where we are today . I think the main issue really way to where we are today . I think the main issue really why way to where we are today . I think the main issue really why this i the main issue really why this became the main issue really why this became untenable was the economy. I think the became untenable was the economy. I think the economy was the main motivation think the economy was the main motivation that gorbachev saw for changing motivation that gorbachev saw for changing the soviet union, arms control changing the soviet union, Arms Control Agreements and what have you. Ultimately, it was the economic circumstances that were created around circumstances that were created around 19921992 when i was there. You had around 19921992 when i was there. You had Petrol Rationing and the country you had Petrol Rationing and the country that that was the largest Oil Producing state. You have very severe Oil Producing state. That eventually led to what coverage are feared the moses at the nationalist genie was let out of the at the nationalist genie was let out of the bottle. Thats how people in the us, especially i how people in the us, especially Government Officials who worked with Rich Off In The 80s when Ronald Reagan was president are looking at this. Looking at it through the prism of then and also what is happening now. How tensions not only with russia and the us are very low. Also with the war it ukraine. People are of course wishing there was different leadership in russia. Something more similar to what gorbachev brought. Also a parallel to that, looking at perhaps the Republican Party to do at a time when Ronald Reagan was able to reach out to russia and talk with in and really to the cold war. Its a much different Republican Party today thanit different Republican Party today than it was then as well. A Republican Party where some in the party think that putin is a strong command and someone who could be admired. Its obviously a much different time. Theres a lot of reminiscing back to those times today here in the us media and among former Government Officials. Chris. Former Government Officials. Chris, at that time former Government Officials. Chris, at that time in former Government Officials. Chris, at that time in 1991 former Government Officials. Chris, at that time in 1991 the former Government Officials. Did it become in as a spy in moscow. Did it become in a way even more dangerous . The rules that governed the cold war were suddenly fractured did it become in a way even more dangerous . The rules that governed the cold war were suddenly fractured didnt therefore become all, maybe on its knees are quite a while after the collapse. Dont forget that the chairman of the kgb dont forget that the chairman of the kgb was one who tried to topple gorbachev the kgb was one who tried to topple gorbachev and stop his reforms in the Coup Gorbachev and stop his reforms in the coup in gorbachev and stop his reforms in the coup in 1991. I think there was a the coup in1991. I think there was a backlash the coup in 1991. I think there was a backlash that they were very much on the a backlash that they were very much on the back a backlash that they were very much on the back foot for several years, i on the back foot for several years, i would on the back foot for several years, i would say on the back foot for several years, i would say. But it was never resolved i would say. But it was never resolved russia is this an enigma. The archives of stallings. In public playback the archives of stallings. There were some really horrendous happening. There were some really horrendous things going on under the surface horrendous things going on under the surface you horrendous things going on under the surface. You had this constant battle surface. You had this constant battle between their dark and light sides of battle between their dark and light sides of russia, which weve seen over sides of russia, which weve seen over the sides of russia, which weve seen over the millennia and which of course over the millennia and which of course now sadly, The Dark Side is in ascendance. Course now sadly, The Dark Side is in ascendance. Plenty of other news relatin to russia and the war in ukraine today. Russia has once again suspended gas supplies to europe via the nordstream 1 pipeline. Gazprom said repairs were required that will mean the flow of gas is shut off for the next three days. European leaders believe russia will extend the outage in a further attempt to drive up gas prices. Meanwhile in brussels, the eu agreed to suspend today a Visa Agreement with russia, which will significantly reduce the number of new visas issued. Theyve stopped short of a blanket ban, which many of the Eastern Europeans are demanding but the high Representativejosep Boreell said it will make it much more difficult and more expensive for russians who are travelling and shopping in the eu as if there were no war raging in ukraine. The Lithuanian Foreign minister has outlined just how much of an issue that has become for the Baltic States. Hundreds of thousands of people, were seeing Cross The Border into lithuania, latvia, estonia. Poland and finland there have visas being issued by other member states, and a big group of those people are actually staying in the border countries. That means that somebody else is inviting them in, and they continue to stay. And it is an issue its a safety issue, because the country is at war, and big numbers of people actually have already been at the front, they cant go back and go to a spa in a town in lithuania after spending sometime at the front. We will talk about the conservatives and the final hustings and head of the decision that will be made on monday. Tuesday with us us for that. Hello there. Things are turning a lot more unsettled to end this week. Something we havent seen for quite a while, deep areas of low pressure. Now, remember, tomorrows the first day of meteorological autumn. The weather is really going to reflect that as we move into friday and certainly the weekend. Some heavy rain, thunderstorms and even gales, particularly across Western Areas. But for the rest of wednesday and thursday, its this area of High Pressure which will continue to dominate to keep things largely quiet. Now, any light showers fade away this evening. Overnight is going to be mostly dry. Clear skies in the north with light winds, but more of a breeze further south. That should stop temperatures from falling much below 10 15 celsius. Again, another chilly one to come across parts of scotland. So it will be a chilly start in the north, less so in the south, but its going to be another largely dry day for thursday, quite a bit of sunshine around. Could see Cloud Tending to build in the south of england into wales, a few showers breaking out here, maybe the odd heavy one. It will still be quite breezy here as well, but temperatures reaching around the mid 205 here and up to 21 celsius or so across the central belt of scotland. Now we start to see these areas of low pressure, the Weather Fronts close in on us for friday. It will be a gradual process, so, again, much of the north and east of the country should stay dry with some sunshine, but the clouds will thicken in the south of wales, southern england, with showers breaking out, some of them could be heavy and thundery. It will start to turn wetter for Western Scotland and northern ireland. So that will impact the temperatures a little bit here, but, still, in the brightest, warmest spots in the south and east up to 25 celsius. Now, for saturday, that first front will start to move northwards bringing thundering downpours, some intense thunderstorms on there, very heavy rainfall, then we will see another Weather Front pushing into Western Areas, we think, later on in the day. The winds will be a feature across the north of the country, gusting 30 a0 mph. But there will still be some sunshine around, particularly in the southeast where we will still import some warm air from the near continent, so 23 24 celsius. Even further north, the high teens and low 205. But low pressure sits to the west of us, we think, as we move through the weekend, even to next week, several centres to this area of low pressure, some deep ones, for example, on sunday could affect ireland and parts of western wales, southwest england. There will be some heavy rain around too, and it will stay blustery with further heavy showers as we head into the start of next week. Hello, im christian fraser. Youre watching the context on bbc news. Five days to go until the uk discovers who wil become the next Prime Minister. Liz truss and rishi sunak are making theirfinal pitch to voters tonight, but do they have the answers to the mounting problems the uks now facing . And Life Expectancy for those born in the United States has fallen to its lowest level since 1996. Tonight with the context, nathalie tocci, former eu Foreign Policy adviser, and the longtime capitol hill correspondent and now Washington Post live anchor leigh ann caldwell. Welcome back. So, this time monday night, we will know the name of the next british Prime Minister. But tonight, and for the last time, liz truss and rishi sunak are facing off in the 12th and final hustings of the summer at wembley arena, after which the conservative members will have two days to return any ballots not yet cast. The poll will close at 5pm friday night. With me now is tim montgomerie, a former advisor to borisjohnson and founder of the website conservativehome. Good to have you with us on the programme. Because in a way not only eat tonights hustings perhaps irrelevant in terms of determining the course of this contest, but actually its been obvious according to all Opinion Polling for 4 6 weeks that liz truss would not only win this contest but when it quite handsomely. So the ordeal many people feel they have been put through during the summer months of a long tory Leadership Race adding to uncertainty at a time when people are facing huge energy bills wanting certainty, probably has not really mattered, certainly not in terms of who turns out to be the person to succeed boris johnson. Who turns out to be the person to succeed borisjohnson. This who turns out to be the person to succeed boris johnson. Who turns out to be the person to succeed boris johnson. I is going to tackle this costofliving crisis . Is going to tackle this costoflivinu crisis . , costofliving crisis . I think she will have a costofliving crisis . I think she will have a more costofliving crisis . I think she will have a more detrimental. Will have a more detrimental approach than say rishi sunak or the british Opposition Party in the labour party. Both of them in the various responses to the Energy Crisis have proposed responses that Benefit Millionaires as much as people who are quite poor. I think liz trusss approach will be different. I think there will be tax cuts for everybody, particularly a cuts for everybody, particularly a cut in national insurance, which is a tax it falls particularly on the working population of the uk. But there will be more targeted help on there will be more targeted help on the poorest people in society who bear the brunt of the energy price cap. I think it has been a difficult summerfor the cap. I think it has been a difficult summer for the conservative party. It looked introspective, but i think in probably a weeks time, things may start to look very different. I think she will move very rapidly, i hope she will apologise for having put the country through this process and then i think the announcement to help people with their energy bills will come very quickly. I think youll probably be a day to announcement. And then at least provisionally for a little while, the politics of the next General Election might look a little different. Youve got inflation, recession, a fuel crisis, a standoff with the of us at the moment are talking about the problem with sterling and i want to show viewers what has been going on with sterling over the summer while this has been going on. This is actually a three month gap sees this precipitous drop with sterling against the dollar. Today, can we put todays trading on, there you see its basically tapping there at the bottom at 1. 16 and there are some currency traders, ten, who are now saying we could be at parity with the dollar by year end. Largely pegged to the fuel crisis. How does that exacerbate the problem that the Prime Minister will inherit . Llrluleilii. Prime minister will inherit . Well, christian, Prime Minister will inherit . Well, christian. We Prime Minister will inherit . Well, christian, we were Prime Minister will inherit . Well, christian, we were talking Prime Minister will inherit . All christian, we were talking about liz truss being the winter of this leadership election. Sometimes im very glad im a pond and not a politician because the idea of inheriting all of this at the moment is probably the worst inbox for any incoming Prime Ministerfor a very long time. Now, there are people who worry that liz trusss emphasis on tax cuts my exacerbate executive that weakness of sterling that you have just highlighted. That weakness of sterling that you havejust highlighted. But that weakness of sterling that you have just highlighted. But my hope is, and its more of a hope and necessarily in expectation, but the problem in the british economy in british politics has been for quite a long time uncertainty. Markets hate uncertainty. If there is a decisive sort of set of announcements from the new Prime Minister next week, notjust on how they are going to address the energy bill issue, but perhaps we will begin to look like a British Government with all of the talent involved sat around the Cabinet Table and making some of the long term decisions on competitiveness that the british economy needs. I think liz truss is someone who was more committed to the regulation, for example, than rishi sunak, her opponent in this race. There are ways that she can reassure markets and certainly for all the reasons you havejust highlighted, she certainly will need to. Let highlighted, she certainly will need to. I think they will or she will wind of women late in this contest and i think the brexit side of the debate have confidence in her but her challenge is to reach out to the other wing of party that wonder whether she is really a one nation conservative or someone who will go for all the people or whether she is actually more of a almost ideologue. She has certainly been part of a group of a think tank that had very few market views, very deep regulatory views and i certainly think if labour are thinking about how to defeat liz truss, they may sort to float to voters ideas of her being a radical. But it will certainly be a very unusual and over. We are used to pictures of a car going up the mall towards Buckingham Palace and this is obviously going to be a very different and over on this occasion. Tim, thank you for your time this evening, thank you very much. The average Life Expectancy of an american has plummeted in the sharpest two year decline in nearly 100 years, and that serves as a stark reminder of the awful toll the coronavirus pandemic has had. In 2021, Life Expectancy at birth fell to 76 years, the lowest it has been in the United States since 1996. And that is a loss of almost three years since 2019, when an average american would live to 79 years. Covid 19 has contributed to half of the decline. There were more than 460,000 deaths in 2021, but Drug Overdose deaths also reached a record high in 2021, resulting in the deaths of around 109,000 people. Im joined by noreen goldman. Well, its a very sad symbol of many i its a very sad symbol of many aspects of our country, about art rates of disease, about our health care system, about our politics, about our iniquities and i think all of these are reflected in this really drastic reduction in Life Expectancy over a two year period. We have grown accustomed to measuring changes in life is but a seat incrementally, in months, which is why this is all the more remarkable because this is a precipitous fall of three years. How does it break down within the different racial groupings . 50. Does it break down within the different racial groupings . So, the Life Expectancy different racial groupings . So, the Life Expectancy for whites fell by l Life Expectancy for whites fell by probably a little less than two years but the love ethnicity for the black and latino populations felt by roughly four years. For the native American Population, roughly six years. Those are drastic drops and lumpy fantasy. You are right, there was a period in 2015 2017 where each of three years in a row we saw a one tenth of a year drop in life efficiency, and that made Headline News for one tenth of the year. Now youre talking about at least 20, 30, 40 youre talking about at least 20, 30, a0 times a magnitude of that drop in a two year period. 30, 40 times a magnitude of that drop in a twoyear period. They have lost more than 6. 5 years. That brings their love if it is the 265, which is on a par with that figure for all americans in 19aa. That is truly shocking. The native American Population has faced huge discrimination, huge lack of funding for its Indian Health service, is had much higher rates of Chronic Disease and all of the other major racial and ethnic groups in the us, is had higher rates of poverty, its had a poor standard of housing, some housing without water infrastructure. Thats a lot of risk factors that put the population at very high risk during a pandemic to high rates of infection and high rates of fatality from the infection. Good to have you on the programme, thank you very much for your time. Now its time for the panel. We started our half on the conservative hustings tonight and in no way there is a crossover between our two countries. Indeed im not and in fact i think listening to the in italy. Indeed im not and in fact i think listening to the situation i i think listening to the situation in the uk, there are so many parallels because in some respects there is a situation whereby everyone knows who the winner is going to be. So there is this kind of odd limo in the midst of a really acute energy and economic crisis, and here we are sort of waiting for this election which is probably going to see a right wing government or if you refuse to define a centre right government given there are not any centrist parties in the right Wing Coalition. Left are not any centrist parties in the rightWing Coalition. Are not any centrist parties in the rightWing Coalition. Left for the fi. Ures on rightWing Coalition. Of course we have moroni on the left, the brothers of italy, we know the man in the bottom left there Silvio Berlusconi and then the democrats on the left. So are we looking at the top line there, as a future leaders of italy . Top line there, as a future leaders of ital . ,. , ~ top line there, as a future leaders of ital . Of italy . Looking at them and berlusconi so it is three of italy . Looking at them and l berlusconi so it is three against one which is why it is so obvious essentially he was going to win this election. Now the kind of oddity of this all is that the far right party is emerging almost as a moderate in this group because she is the one thatis this group because she is the one that is excited to receive the largest share of the boat and therefore it will have the greatest responsibility in terms of governance and there is only so much that you can play with fire particularly when we are in a context in which europe is not demanding austerity but is actually giving us money. So it does not really pay up too well to kind of use the youre a sceptic card, and then you see this desperate catch up with salvini and trying to wrap up the anti migration sentiment, sort of flying over in the context in which we are in an energy in economic crisis. We are no longer in a migration crisis as he worked a few years ago. But as i said, this kind of odd situation in which we have the far right party with our first probably female Prime Minister of the country that comes from eight fascist background, although it is probably no longer or cannula to be defined as a fascist party, that is indeed the sort of moderate face of this right Wing Coalition that is probably going to end up ruining the country in a couple of weeks time. The comparison with that with what is going on in america at the moment as well. There is an election, a special election we are waiting for the results on. I read today about don young, for 49 years was the rubber and resented for alaska, the longest serving republic and representative in congress in congressional history until he died, and why are we so interested in this alaska special election . Hello there. Thursday marks the ist of september, and also the first day of meteorological autumn, and although thursday will be a relatively quiet day, with scenes like this behind me, which weve been used to for so many months now, as we move towards the end of the week, certainly into the weekend, things turn very unsettled as deep lows start to push in off the atlantic. We could see some heavy rain, thunderstorms and even the chance of some gales, particularly towards Western Areas. But for thursday, were still under the ridge of this High Pressure for most of us. These Weather Fronts will be gathering, joining forces and developing an area of low pressure by friday, into the start of the weekend. For thursday, though, a largely quiet day. Still quite cool across Northern Areas after a chilly night. Best of the sunshine, though, across scotland, 21 degrees or so there. Further south, itll be warm, 2a degrees, but increasing cloud and a few showers later in the day across the south, the odd heavier one likely there. And as we head through thursday night into the early hours of friday, those showers and maybe some thunderstorms will continue in southern areas, and i think, with some slightly warmer air moving northwards, its going to be less cold to start friday across the board. Temperatures range from 10 15 degrees. Now, for friday itself, though, weve got this area of low pressure to the south and another Weather Front pushing into the north west of the country, so well see increasing cloud, some showers for northern ireland, maybe Western Scotland, and well see further showers affecting southern england, maybe south wales, a bit more cloud here. But still, in some brighter moments, we could see up to 25 degrees. Again, the best of the sunshine for scotland and north east england. The winds will start to pick up across the north of the country as we move into saturday, and this area of low pressure will really start to develop. Now, the first Weather Front lying through central areas will contain some heavy thunderstorms, some torrential downpours on it as it pushes its way northwards. And winds will be very strong in the north. Further south, a little bit quieter, but well see another rain band pushing into some Western Areas later in the day. Winds not so strong here as what theyll be further north, gusting 30 a0 mph in fact. No problems with temperatures, though. Still in the low 20s, even in the north. Around 23 24 degrees in the south, and it will feel increasingly humid. Into sunday, low pressure sits across the country, but mainly towards Western Areas, and well have a couple of centres of this area of low pressure. One such centre could bring an area of very heavy rain and strong winds to ireland particularly, but even into wales, south west england. Persistent heavy rain here. Showers further north which could be thundery, but theres a chance the south east could escape most of the showers and stay largely dry. Again 23 degrees. Further north high teens, low 20s. Bit of a messy picture, then, to monday, with lots of isobars on the charts, plenty of Weather Fronts. So, its going to stay blustery for all areas, but very windy with gales across the west and south west. Areas of showers or even longer spells of rain likely. And therell be further showers across the north, too. Maybe the odd shower, which could be heavy across the south east. Quite a bit of sunshine here. Temperatures again around the mid 205, generally the high teens further north and west. As we head into tuesday, weve still got low pressure with us. Even beyond tuesday into next week, it could be that well see further areas of low pressure move up from the south west, but a bit of a question mark this far out at the moment.
