with malaysian officials. this morning, some relatives accused malaysia airlines of not providing enough support after it was suggested that their travel home would be paid for if they decided to leave. have families reacted to this press conference this the defense minister that happened in the last hour? reporter: they have. i know that they were watching from their hotel rooms here in the hotel behind me. 500 relatives gather every day. there are a couple of interesting threads that came out of the news conference. we learned the pilots, two pilots, did not request to fly together. we also found out that the last satellite contact with the airplane may have been coming from the plane on the ground and that last point is actually a sliver good news for the families here because they say at this point the best case scenario is that maybe this was foul play and maybe the plane
he also said that they are still unable to confirm the precise location of the airplane when it lost satellite contact. so that is, in part, the problem with trying to find this airplane, and where it might have gone down. but again, reiterating, based on the new reports, he did say, there s a high degree of certainty that the aircraft communications systems were disabled by someone on that plane. who, we just don t know. jim clancy has been monitoring this and he s been in kuala lumpur since this mystery began. what are your take-aways from the prime minister s report, jim? well, first of all, he is addressing the families. he s saying he hopes this is going to at least give them some information about where the investigation stands up to this
skram. welcome back to the news room. she s now in safe hands, the american teen hoping become the youngest person to sail around the world solo, she got into trouble, that you know and stranded in the middle of the ocean between australia and africa. well, this morning a french fishing vessel reached abby sunderland and she s said to be in good health. the 16-year-old was stranded in the indian ocean after losing satellite contact just two days ago. sunderland s parents just talked about their daughter just moments ago. as of 3:00 this morning, just after 3:00 this morning we had a phone call from abigail aboard the reunion french flagged fishing vessel. she was successfully rescued from wild eyes and was aboard
primary focus for investigators who once confronted a search radius that covered 1/10 of the globe. the final satellite contact from the plane on the day it disappeared indicated it could have gone as far as this line. the amount of fuel onboard meant it wouldn t have been able to fly much further. this new potential debris lies between those two lines. in just the right spot to be as the investigators say, credible. four aircraft from the u.s., australia, and new zealand including an american p8 submarine hunter have scoured the area where the debris was found once but spotted nothing. their search hampered by bad weather in the region and slowed by the long flight from land which leaves them only three hours of actual search time. the first aircraft took off for another attempt at daybreak in austral australia, that s a little more than an hour ago. a norwegian cargo vessel is assisting in the search and other ships are now en route. finding the objects will not be easy.
