Communications minister Mondli Gungubele believes the appointment of a new Postbank board will not take more than two months as the department has started to look for new people after mass resignations last week.
The government insists the shambolic social grant saga has been resolved despite reports by some beneficiaries that they had still not received their monies nearly three weeks after the due date.
The Postbank board, including chairperson Thabile Wonci, resigned last week, citing interference by the Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Mondli Gungubele last week.
Earlier this month, about R500,000 South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) grant beneficiaries did not receive their money due to a glitch in Postbank’s system.
