Last week, the
New York Times published an article about the LDS Church’s sacred temple garments and the physical distress many women in the faith say they experience because of them.
The garments, which are essentially underwear, are a very personal subject little discussed by members of the faith. When they are spoken of, it’s usually in hushed tones, because, really, why are we talking about underwear? So when member Sasha Piton posted an Instagram story about the physical and psychological difficulty she’s experienced because of her garments, it took the issue out of the closet and into the public forum. Piton and other guests join us this week at 11 a.m. as we examine the connection between the physical embodiments of faith and the culture and doctrine behind them.
