We will not leave DPO office till we receive complete results, says PML-N s Miftah Ismail

Situation became tense in the NA-249 constituency late Thursday night after results kept on swinging in favour of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Miftah Ismail and rival Qadir Khan Mandokhel of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The vote count began after a peaceful polling, and the result started pouring in from various polling stations. It was earlier announced that PML-N candidate Ismail was in the lead against PPP’s Mandokhel.
Assuming that the Ismail’s lead would hold till the final count, the PML-N leaders and supporters started celebrating. Even Vice President Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter to claim victory of her party in the by-election.

In Karachi’s Baldia Town area, barefoot children, carrying jerry cans, jumping over uncovered manholes without skipping a beat and racing their peers on narrow, uneven and dirty roads is the norm. All around, there are remnants of schools, parks and playgrounds with broken boundary walls that seem to be propped up by piles of garbage - an equally commonplace sight across the NA-249 constituency.

Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) Chairperson Syed Mustafa Kamal said on Wednesday that only his party had the solution to Karachi’s problems, claiming that the last time when Karachi was built was during his tenure as the city nazim and it has never happened since then.
He expressed these views in his address to corner meetings with different communities at Baldia Town, Union Council (UC) 24, UC-30 and public gatherings in Shujaat Colony, UC-35, while campaigning for the NA-249 by-elections.
