Robber among two killed during robbery
One of the arrested suspect was later killed in alleged police encounter
GUJRANWALA:
A warehouse owner and a robber were killed in an exchange of fire during a robbery bid Gujranwala on Friday.
Police said a robber was caught by the trader s accomplices and handed over to the police.
A few hours later, the robber was killed in an alleged police encounter.
Separate cases of both the incidents were registered in Khayali police station. The incident took place in warehouse near the Khayali Road area, where three robbers came on a motorcycle without a number plate and asked scrap dealers Shah Ji and Bashir Ahmad to hand them over cash on gunpoint.

Five suspected criminals were killed in different police encounters in the region during the past three months.
In February, a police encounter was reported in the area of Saddar Kamonki police station where CIA received a tip that some robbers were fleeing after a robbery. As soon as police intercepted them near a toll plaza, fire was opened, in which one of the suspected dacoits was shot.
Another alleged police encounter took place near the Nowshera Wirkan police station after Yasir alias Yasiri escaped from custody.

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) - Pakistan s most notorious accused Atif Lahoria, who was arrested in Hungary 4 years ago, has been handed over to Punjab Police.
CPO Gujranwala Sarfraz Ahmed Falaki while giving a press conference said that Atif Lahoria belongs to Alipur Chatha area of Gujranwala, 13 cases of murder, robbery and extortion were registered against the accused and was also involved in police encounters and attacks on police officers.
According to the CPO, the accused belonged to the largest extortionist group in Punjab. The accused killed several traders in Alipur Chatha for not paying extortion.
