Sarasota Herald-Tribune
A seven-member homeschool team from Invictus Advocacy Academy took fifth place in the annual Florida High School Mock Trial Competition.
Team Invictus, coached by attorney Maria Gerber of Gerber Law, PA and teacher coach Lisa James, represented the 12th Judicial Circuit in the four-day, virtual, statewide competition. Fourteen teams competed from various state judicial circuits in trial simulations that were judged by administrative, county and circuit judges.
The defendant in the “case” was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing a high school friend who worked for a Corporation that the defendant blamed for his wife’s untimely death.
