Increase in vaccination ratio observed
LAHORE: On special instructions for intensive vaccination drives, a huge rise is observed in vaccination ratio.
Celebrating dedicated week of awareness for vaccination and SOPs compliance, its positive trend, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Sarah Aslam said only vaccination is the real remedy against Covid and its new Delta Variant.
She said in recent 24 hours 352,832 people have been vaccinated in Punjab, which is the highest number of vaccinations in a single day so far, while 307,128 citizens were vaccinated on Friday.
During the last 24 hours 59,832 citizens were vaccinated in Lahore.
A total of 11,948,015 citizens have been vaccinated across Punjab. ISLAMABAD/ LAHORE: The fourth wave of the pandemic seems to be hitting Rawalpindi-Islamabad hard and its 6 pc infectivity rate is ringing alarm bells with 267 new cases, whereas the rest of Punjab registered 364 new cases in the last 24 hours with four deaths.
Around four patients died from COVID-19 while other 364 new cases were confirmed in Punjab province during the last 24 hours. Of these four deaths, one was reported from District Lahore alone, bringing the total number of COVID-related deaths to 10,856 in the province.
According to report issued by Primary and Secondary Healthcare (P&SH) Department Punjab on Friday, there were 9,275 active cases of COVID-19 across the province while total cases reported from across the province were 349,475 so far.
LAHORE: The Covid infection spreading fast in Punjab as the province reported 386 new positive cases during the last 24 hours, almost 40 per cent more than recorded on Wednesday.
Following this, the Punjab Health Department has launched a vigorous vaccination awareness drive across the province, being the only remedy to stop Covid deaths and transmission of the virus in the prevailing situation.
Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Sarah Aslam feared the recent surge may be because of the presence of the highly infectious Indian delta strain.
“We are observing this week for awareness regarding vaccination and SOPs compliance and its positive trend,” she said.

LAHORE: The Punjab health department has processed 28 Covid-19 samples for genome sequencing, suspecting the presence of highly transmissible and deadly Indian Delta variant in the provincial capital.
Picked up from the government teaching hospitals of Lahore, including Mayo, Services and Jinnah, the samples were of the people carrying typical symptoms of Delta virus.
According to the health experts, the possible presence of Delta variant in the city poses a serious threat to the Lahorites.

Punjab to observe SOPs implementation week before Eid

The national Covid-19 positivity ratio has jumped to 3.79% a few days after the government allayed its concerns that the Delta variant has started to spread in the country.
The Punjab government will observe a week for the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and vaccination till July 18 in wake of Eidul Azha by following guidelines of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid and the chief secretary here on Saturday. The Home Department has set up a provincial control room for monitoring.
