Book tv recently visited l to ask members of congress what they are reading this summer. I just finished reading dreadnought by Robert Massey about leading up to world war i and i would recommend it to anybody. Theres a lot of great parallels to what happened leading up to world war i with what we are facing right now. Admiral christmas of germany was the one who convinced bismarck to get into the navy business. They had a small navy until then and they use navy build up after bismarck and what that did was change the game and especially the pacific and there was something that came down shortly before world war i was germany pressured the uk and took the Solomon Islands away from them. Look like a small point at the time all of a sudden for the first time youve got germany with a base in the South Pacific and a large navy.
