Noles Continue Season at Virginia and Alabama

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State track and field program will be splitting off into two groups this upcoming weekend at the Virginia Challenge and the Crimson Tide Invitational. The distance runners will head to Charlottesville, Va., while the throwers will hit the road to Tuscaloosa, Ala. Action in Charlottesville begins at 9 a.m. with the men's 10,000m run, while the Crimson Tide Invitational will begin at 2 p.m. with Megan Cook in the women's hammer throw. Three key distance runners will be making their outdoor debut on Friday. On the men's side, Adriaan Wildschutt and Ahmed Muhumed will look to pace the Noles in their first races of the outdoor season. Wildschutt will be running the 5000m run on Friday. Wildschutt holds the school record in the event with a time of 13:28.97 which he set last year at the North Florida Invite. Nwanaga, Odiong Capture FSU All-Time Performances

Tallahassee, Fla. –  The Florida State track and field teams saw 12 personal best performances of Friday at FSU Relays at the Mike Long Track. Kelechi Nwanga and Edidiong Odiong contributed their career bests that were among the all-time top 10 performances in FSU history. Nwanaga led the Noles to a one-two finish in the women’s javelin in dominating fashion, measuring at 55.06m, edging her previous best of 54.93.  She still holds the second-best performance in FSU history but inched closer to the school record (55.59m) that was set back in 2018 by Lauri Paredes. Odiong crossed the line first in the women’s 100m with a career best time of 11.28, which now ties for seventh in FSU history. Her previous best was 11.37, set last year and just shy of the FSU all-time top 10. We had a really good day today, Head Coach Bob Braman said. Nwanaga Takes Javelin Title at Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, Ala. - The Florida State track and field team only had five participants on day one of the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala., but all five Noles placed inside the top three in their respective events. The Noles were led by Kelechi Nwanaga who took home the individual title in the javelin. Nwanaga won the event with a throw of 52.84m, just edging teammate Sara Zabarino who finished second with a throw of 52.34m. Megan Cook had a solid showing in the hammer throw as she took third with a personal best throw of 56.34m. Cook's throw is the fifth-farthest throw in FSU history. In the men's long jump, Jeremiah Davis took second with a leap of 7.64m. Teammate Jacore Irving was right behind him with a jump of 7.09m. At the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, Adriaan Wildschutt finished the 3000m run with a time of 8:09.24 while Lauren Ryan clocked in at 9:13.93. Noles Begin Indoor Season at Clemson

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State track and field team will head to Clemson, S.C. on Friday for the Clemson Opener. Friday's meet will be the earliest start of the season since the 2018-19 season when they began the year on Dec. 1 at the Colyear-Danville BU Opener in Boston, Mass. Field events will begin at 10 a.m. with running events slated to start at 11:40 a.m. Friday's 17-team field will be highlighted by FSU and their in-state rival Florida as the top two teams in the field. The Noles will also be joined by ACC counterparts Clemson and Georgia Tech as well as South Carolina. Previewing the Noles FSU enters the 2021-22 season with a load of experience, as they return a combined 18 (11 men, 7 women) All-ACC indoor athletes from last season. which is second in the conference.
