THE late Santiago Balbontin was honoured on by Wicklow RNLI Lifeboat Station as the team of volunteers dedicated their Wicklow and District Chamber of Commerce’s award to one of their most valued and popular volunteers.

Wicklow and District Lions Club decided to give the shoppers and community of Wicklow town a little surprise on Sunday. The Lions members walked through the town dressed in their novel Lion costumes to entertain the hundreds of people between the Gaol and the Christmas Market. Main Street was pedestrianised at the time and free of traffic.
Children s faces lit up at the sight of the Lions led by King Leo but especially as the Lions were joined on their journey by a very special guest - Santa Claus.
The shoppers and people in coffee shops couldn t believe their eyes when they saw Lions on the street and quickly reached for their camera phones to take a picture of not one, but seven Lions parading along the Wicklow streets.
