The Santa Cruz City Council paused police plans on Tuesday to seek funding to install more than a dozen automated license plate-reading cameras at major traffic intersections and city gateways.
According to a summary of the judgment provided to Big Basin customers by the Central Coast Water Board, the Moore's have been prohibited from ever operating, managing or owning a wastewater system in the future and are personally liable for up to $750,000 in civil penalties.
"Part of my reason for bringing this forward is I haven't found another way to help people rebuild out of harm's way . if there is one I'd love to hear it," said Supervisor Manu Koenig. "This is really the beginning of reconciling with a changing world and a changing climate."
The University of California and the state of California partnered to award about $80 million in climate action grants to numerous projects that address climate issues at academic institutions statewide such as UC Santa Cruz, which received about $10 million in the grant funding.
