"Members of the local Jewish community have been in contact with the Santa Cruz Council about the proposed resolution, and, to the council’s credit, members have listened to the concerns and agreed to some changes, but, unfortunately, while the language asks for an 'immediate' cease-fire, it makes no such request about release of hostages," the Editorial Board writes. "Nor does the resolution even name Hamas or describe the terrible events of Oct. 7 that set this war in motion and that have cost thousands of innocent lives."
