Close to 90 students of Kalakshetra had written to the chief of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women A.R. Kumari last week, saying they had been sexually harassed and verbally abused by Padman and three repertory artists.
The Kalakshetra Governing Board also assured students that assistant professor Hari Padman, who was arrested on charges of sexual harassment, will be suspended.
Hari Padman is one of the four faculty members who has been accused of sexual harassment at Kalakshetra Foundation’s Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts in Chennai.
Students who protested on the campus had alleged that the IC chair and presiding director of the institute, Revathi Ramachandran, tried to protect the perpetrators.
