Oxygen Express train leaves for Karnataka South Eastern Railway has so far run 38 with 2,123 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen across the country The South Eastern Railway successfully sent the first Oxygen Express train from Tatanagar to Bangalore in Karnataka on Monday. The train left for Bangalore on Monday afternoon with 120 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen in six 20 feet containers.  Due to a sharp surge in Covid-19 cases, the transportation of Liquid Medical Oxygen has become crucial and South Eastern Railway took the initiative of Oxygen Express from April 23 to different destinations. The liquid oxygen was sourced from the Jamshedpur plant of Linde India, a leading manufacturer of oxygen and other industrial gases.

Oxygen Express trains start using 20 feet containers Out of the total 30 that have run, 13 have been between Bokaro and Lucknow The South Eastern Railway’s Oxygen Express train left from Tatanagar for Okhla near Delhi on Saturday carrying 120 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen. The medical oxygen was carried in six 20 feet containers, being used for the first time for transportation. Another Oxygen Express train left Rourkela on its way to Faridabad carrying 82.71 tonnes of LMO in seven tankers. So far, South Eastern Railway has run 30 Oxygen Express trains from Bokaro Steel City, Tatanagar and Rourkela despatching a total of 1500 tonnes of liquid oxygen towards Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.

Railways issues fresh guidelines for travel during Covid second wave Waitlisted passengers will not be allowed to board a train The South Eastern Railway on Friday issued a fresh Standard Operating Procedure for passengers amid the growing cases of Covid-19 across the country. The fresh guidelines issued by Garden Reach, the Calcutta-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway said that onboard booking by ticket checking staff of a waiting list ticket will not be permitted. Moreover, unreserved tickets shall be permitted on limited trains only on which such unreserved journey has been permitted. Pre-paid catering services in trains have been disabled. No catering charges will be included in the fare. However, ready-to-eat meals, packed items, packaged drinking water bottles, tea, coffee, beverages etc. shall be made available to passengers in trains on payment basis through pantry
