Over 300 activists stage sit-in at Goelkera rail station

Over 300 activists of Nagrik Ekta Manch on Wednesday staged a Rail Roko agitation at the Goelkera Railway Station of the Howrah-Mumbai main line, demanding the stoppage of mail and express trains there. Men and women sat on the railway tracks and started their agitation from 8:45 am, disrupting train movement along the route. Several senior railway officials of South Eastern Railway s Chakradharpur division including the senior divisional commercial manager Manish Pathak rushed to the spot. Deployment of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) was also made in adequate numbers to prevent any untoward incident. Leading the agitation, the president of the outfit, Laxman Malgandi said that Goelkera Railway Station assumes importance as several mail and express trains running in Howrah- Mumbai main trunk route passes through it.

Local passenger trains to run from Monday Ranchi-Patna and Rajendra Nagar-Durg specials to continue till March South Eastern Railway announced the resumption of local trains on Saturday, in addition to extending the services of two special trains till March 31. Ranchi-Patna Special and Rajendra Nagar-Durg Special trains, which were earlier supposed to run till January 31, will now operate till March 31. “We decided to continue the running of both the trains considering the good rush of passengers,” said Sanjay Ghosh, chief public relations officer of South Eastern Railway. Meanwhile, the office of SER s chief passenger transportation manager ( CPTM) in a separate circular announced restoration of several local passenger trains under its jurisdiction.

Local trains back on track in Ranchi, Chakradharpur from January 2021 South Eastern railway releases schedule, asks passengers to use enquiry app before a journey South Eastern Railway (SER) has decided to restore local passenger train services in its Ranchi and Chakradharpur divisions from the New Year in deference to passengers’ wishes. Garden Reach, the headquarters of South Eastern Railway in Calcutta, released the schedule of trains on Thursday. The 08619 / 08620 Ranchi-Dumka Special will run daily from January 2. The train will leave Ranchi at 9.30pm and reach Dumka the next day at 7.25am. While the return train will leave Dumka daily at 6.55 pm. The train will reach Ranchi at 3.55 am the next day.
