Robert Hall’s Amazing Paso Red
Recently I had the pleasure of trying a new wine from the Robert Hall vineyard in Paso Robles. I expected a good wine because Paso Robles is such a fantastic region, but I was surprised at how good it was.
There is a trend these days, especially among Millennials, to eschew the premium, expensive wines from regions such as Napa and concentrate on wines in the $15-$25 range. Until recently, moderately priced wines just did not have the oomph and full flavor of the Big Time wines from regions such as Napa. In addition, I have found many wines in this price range seem to have a lot of defects such as bitterness or oxidation; I suspect that most casual wine drinkers accept this as normal, but I hate it.
